what a difference 6 years makes
by Goldminer in.
summer 1998. my wife and i, along with 2 other couples and a single sister spent a week-end at a cottage.we had lots of fun;swimming, hiking, telling jokes, playing music, enjoying meals together.all in all a very fun week-end(except when a few had a panic attack on sunday morning and absolutely had to leave to go to the meeting).anyways the rest of us cleaned up and went back to town for lunch.. fast-forward 6 years-summer 2004.
6 of those 7 are now inactive(the 7th might be,i'm not sure),2 are disfellowshipped, one couple is divorced, the other couple are having serious marital problems(separated for a while),the single sister got married and is now living a life of hell(married to a complete power-hungry freak).the only couple still together are my wife and i,me struggling to fade away from the jw's and her struggling to do more for the "truth".. anyways,my wife and i were thinking about that week-end at the cottage and saying how we could never be us 7 again there to enjoy another week-end like that.and to think,jw's are supposed to be the happiest people, you'd think this would have become an annual thing, not people leaving each other or just becoming more miserable as the years pass us by.. thought you might find this story interesting, and if you think about it,how many jw's can tell a similar story?

Ex dubbies everywhere
by Buster inso i'm having dinner in a bar here in olympia.

I do not run into them. Contact with this website is the first time I have encountered ANY ex Jws. It was a thrill.
I live in a suburb of New York and would have expected there to be more; but in my 20 years being outside the JW sphere of influence I have not encountered any.

Jehover's Witnesses get a taste of karma....
by Elsewhere injws and the wts have policies in place for the sole purpose of discriminateing against and harass people who do not believe the same things they believe.
they hunt down anyone who exercises their freedoms or speech and religion so that they can destroy the person's family... now they are getting a small taste of what they do to other people... how do they respond?
they cry "foul".. .

bad karma has a way of coming arouond....I cannot think of a more deserving group....
of course they welcome this as the prophesied persecution....only jehovahs people are persecuted...
yes, they have all the answers. they must be gods people

my da letter---feedback welcomed
by min79 ini was thinking of sending this letter as my da letter to the society and to the kingdom hall i welcome feedback on it.
to the watchtower society,.
i am writing this letter to make a formal statement of disassociation.

I think your letter is well written....
I would advise you TO NOT SEND ANYTHING TO THEM. By sending this letter your are giving them some degree of validation; playing by their rules.
By just turning your back to them and going on with the rest of your life you are sending the message to them that you are taking control of YOUR LIFE and do not consider them important enough to acknowledge their position.
Whatever you decide; good luck to you.

Elders Wives
by Octavia inever wonder how some of those brothers wrote such elloquent talks?
i just found out ( puternut told me) their wives wrote them for them.
that must be why they always clapped so loud for their husbands!
-

my dad ( elder) wrote his own talks; as did I write my own.
My mother just enjoyed her social position as "wife of an elder"...

Do you have a better career now that you're out?
by wanderlustguy injust dawned on me that i couldn't do my job if not for leaving.
i'm a director of marketing for a telecom company and travel the country constantly, different city and state every three months or so.
part of the job is "having" to take people out for drinks and dinner, etc all the time.

wanderlust....sounds like a fun job!
the anwer to your question is yes, I am better off with my career now than when I was a JW

wanting to leave jw org

i am looking to find someone who has left this org to give me some idea on the letter to write and how they dealt with their friends who shunned them

welcome to the forum min79
Your post does not indicate how old you are or at what stage of your life you are in. I mention that because leaving this religion once it has become your life is difficult. Especially if you have a wife and children.
You literally have to start your life over; as many posting here ( including myself) will attest to. You will need a new support network of friends and community to belong to because the JWs will drop you cold. This can be a difficult situation emotionally.
Having outside (outside the jW sphere of influence) friends will certainly help. Good luck to you,
Frank

I agree,My experience with the Catholic church ( despite all the bad press witht the pedophile priests) has been very positive. I find them to be a very caring bunch; cariing of others not affiliated with their own religion...they are a pro action community and they show it. The JWs are draconian by comparison....
